If you are driving around Old Town, Park City, the chances you would miss the Washington School House are slim thanks to its remarkable limestone exterior; the chances you wouldn’t recognize it as a boutique lodging property however, are high. Recently featured in the June 2012 issue of Travel & Leisure magazine as a “charming getaway” this property is that and so much more. The Hotel is quintessential modern Park City in design and intimate and unique in character.
The hotel has been historically popular in its own rite with traditional décor giving a nod to its schoolhouse past, but has recently undergone a blowout renovation and restoration creating a totally chic, luxurious experience that somehow still remains simple and genuine. With only 12 rooms, the hotel sleeps 36 people in total; creating a great compromise between the giant lodges that seem to run rampant in Park City (think Montage Deer Valley or Waldorf Astoria) and all the smaller condos in the area. Think an intimate private home with all the features and services expected from a boutique luxury property.
Rumor has it Sundance celebs love the newly designed penthouse with direct elevator access and an amazing day-bed nook with some of the best view of downtown Park City. We recently stopped in for a little tour from General Manager, Jessica Davis, and ended up brainstorming ideas for intimate affairs at the property. Charming and unique, this place has tons of potential for small wedding, parties, rehearsal dinners and cocktail hours for the right couple or family. I could really go on and on about the Washington School House Hotel! Check out this fabulous Salt Lake Magazine feature taken at the hotel with a few principal dancers of Ballet West!
