Utah’s Resorts are top tier for skiing but what about weddings? Utah’s resorts also have great outdoor space for weddings. Outdoor ceremonies are a popular choice in the summer and fall months. Your décor can be minimal or elaborate, colorful or monotone. Check the weather leading up to your wedding and make sure you have a back up plan in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Most venues will automatically book a back up indoor space for your wedding but be sure and ask when you are scouting venues. You don’t want to be stuck having to rent a tent at the last minute. Some couples, even provide pashminas for their guests in case of cold weather or parasols for a hot and sunny day. Regardless of your venue, be sure to run through a checklist of questions to ask and select the one that is right for you. Soiree Productions is happy to provide you with our complimentary templates that include a venue checklist. Give us a call at (435) 655-2943 and request your copy or stop by our studio to view wonderful portfolios for each of these wonderful venues. Make it a great day and worry free!

Tip Tuesday: Outdoor Wedding Splendor
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009Tip Tuesday: Modern Romance – New York in Park City
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009This New York couple celebrated their nuptials with modern elegance and mountain flair all tied into one. Celebrating in June they experienced a little bit of rain but they didn’t let that spoil their day. Rebekah Westover Photography was able to capture the elegance of the evening with every detail. Because of the rain, the romantic ceremony was held on the back deck (under the awning) at Stein Eriksen Lodge. The bride entered and took one look at the groom, and melted. The backdrop of the mountain landscape provided just the view they were looking for. They enjoyed cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres in the Valhalla Room while still enjoying the picturesque views. The guests moved into the Odin Dining Room for dinner. Chef Zane prepared an amazing four course dinner and Chef Raymond outdid himself with the gorgeous looking and amazingly tasting wedding cake. Our planners designed the table top with white and green arrangements. We incorporated three different looks; some tables showcased a tall centerpiece with branches and blooming flowers, while the other had a similar look with smaller vases, and the third (my personal favorite) had a cute table lamp with an ivory drum shade surrounded by beautiful floral to finish off the modern feel. StellaPosy brought our look to life. Val is so talented at reading our minds and working with us on every detail. We designed everything in white. The crisp linens were white and had a beautiful damask pattern. The chairs–WOW! This time we incorporated the wonderful ghost chair. The entire look was clean, modern and chic with a touch of mountain elegance.

Tip Tuesday: Religious Traditions – Stein Eriksen Lodge Jewish Wedding Ceremony
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009Make your ceremony special and personal by using traditions from your heritage. One of our clients who was recently married at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, immigrated to the United States from Russia as a young girl. She married her groom in a traditional Jewish ceremony. First, they signed the Ketubah prior to the ceremony. The Ketubah is a Jewish marriage contract and is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish marriage. Then the brides’ brother, sister-in-law and cousins carried the chuppah down the aisle. A Jewish chuppah consists of a cloth supported over four poles, or sometimes carried by attendants to the ceremony. The couple is married under the chuppah. The Jewish chuppah symbolizes a home the couple will build together and it is a great honor to carry the chuppah. The ceremony began on the Plaza Terrace at Stein Eriksen Lodge with the bride circling the groom seven times representing the seven Jewish wedding blessings and seven days of creation. This groom also chose to circle his bride seven times symbolizing their equality as partners in the marriage. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a glass was placed beneath the groom’s foot as he stomped the glass. The breaking of the glass has many different meanings, but one interpretation is that the marriage will last as long as the glass is broken—forever. All the guests shouted “Mazel Tov”, which means good luck in Hebrew.
Consider personalizing your ceremony and research your heritage for unique ideas. Many German couples use a two-handed saw and saw a log in half together after exiting the church, to symbolize that they can get through tough problems as one. Ask your grandparents for special mementos. One bride read a letter her grandfather had written her grandmother while they were engaged and he was serving in World War II to her groom. Many cultures have poems or letters on love and marriage that can serve as readings during your ceremony. Investigate Native American or Indian poetry for alternatives to the standard ceremony readings. Many of these readings are available online or stop by Soiree Productions Wedding Planning Studio and browse our library. We have many books and reference materials available to assist you with these types of things. Take advantage of our complimentary one hour consultation and we’ll help you with your details. Tip Tuesday: High or Low?
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009Why not combine the two to create a look that fills the space and creates ambiance. At this wedding we designed the space with high centerpieces and low ones. Lots of candlelight finished it off. The team at Silver Cricket provided beautiful centerpieces that varied in height and provided lots of light. The tall centerpieces stood on a dramatic iron stand with hanging votives and were surronded by smaller versions of the same mix of flowers. The low centerpieces, kept within the theme but in this case, the vases varied in sizes and were surronded by lots of votives. After taking a look at the mock up prior to the wedding, we decided we had to pin spot each arrangement to be sure to highlight the detail. These gorgeous works of art filled the tall ceilings and were the focal point the moment you stepped into the room. I’ve said it before, lighting is crucial and in these photos you can see why. Even the smallest bit of light around the perimeter or a pin spot will add to your incredibly thought out detail and will be appreciated.
