Tip Tuesday: Love Again

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Here is a love story to beautiful to be missed.  I am known as a traditionalist and a sap!  She lost her love and he his.  Widow and widower find love again.  This was a great couple.  I was touched when we spoke about how we could assist them with their wedding planning and when he said they were widows I almost fell apart.  I am so happy they found each other and feel so lucky they found us and allowed us to make their wedding day extra special. We wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Fashion Friday: New York Bridal Market

Friday, October 16th, 2009

NYC_New_York_Lower_Manhattan_and_Battery_Park_from_HelicopterNew York-Here we come!  Going to the Big Apple is one of the many things we look forward to each year at White Couture.  Twice per year our stylists have the opportunity to meet with designers and attend runway shows to determine the styles and collections we will be offering you–our customer!  The hussle of New York is great but imagine attending 20 runway shows in 36 hours.  That’s about what it takes to make sure we have looked at every new gown available.  We welcome your comments and suggestions.  Please let us know some of your favorite designers and we’ll be sure to check them out and talk about bringing them to Utah for you.  A this year’s market we’ll be visiting with new designers and those we already carry.  We’ll schedule trunk shows.  Do you know what a trunk show offers?  Trunk shows are an opportunity for the designer or a representative to travel with the newest collection and bring it to our studio for you to try on and enjoy.  There are many advantages to attending a trunk show but the top 3 reasons you should attend include:

1.  Special promotions and discounts are offered.
2.  Design modifications may be done with the designer in person.
3.  View and try-on every gown in the current collection.  Some may not be available at the studio on a regular basis.

Don’t let a trunk show pass you by.  Many trunk shows are offered throughout the year.  We invite you to attend those that interest you.

Be sure to follow our blog and leave a comment.  This month you could be the winner of a $100 Gift Certificate for your shopping pleasure!  Next week and during the month of October, Fashion Friday will bring you photos from the runway shows we attend, new designers available at White Couture, and designer interviews for a special post of  “meet the designers”.  Join us on Fashion Fridays for the latest trends.  Pepper Nix will be traveling with us at this year’s market to photograph gowns, designers and hot new trends!  Don’t miss these updates.

Tip Tuesday: Jazz Up Your Rehearsal Dinner

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

What’s better than a wedding day? A wedding weekend! To kick off the weekend’s celebration the couple welcomed and thanked their guests for traveling to Utah at an authentic Rocky Mountain BBQ at Sundance’s Elk Meadows the day before the wedding.  Straw bails draped with horse blankets, blue checked tables clothes and wild flowers in mason jars completed the look. Mason jars were also used as lanterns and hung from Shepherd hooks with a candle in dried peas. Salmon, chicken and pulled pork was served directly off of the grill on blue splatter tin ware.  The blue grass band delighted guests as clouds and thunder threatened the festivities. The staff at Sundance was ready with plastic ponchos as dessert was served. It started to rain just as homemade pie was being topped with the couple’s favorite Cold Stone Creamery ice cream. Some guests ran for the cover and others just laughed as summer storms can be, unpredictable and sudden in the mountains.

Luckily, the weather for the wedding was beautiful as well as the weather for the bride and groom’s farewell brunch. More photos are available on Nick Sokoloff Photography’s blog.

You too can plan a wonderful welcome celebration for your guests that can double as your rehearsal dinner. Welcome celebrations come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from a sit down dinner to a casual buffet. You might even decide to welcome your guests following the rehearsal dinner with a cocktail party serving just drinks and hors d’œuvres.  A BBQ theme is always a hit with guests, especially in Utah. Consider hiring a musician that plays folk music and using playful checked linens for a picnic feeling.  Floral can be simple by using galvanized tin buckets and wild flowers. Check and see if your photographer will include shooting this event in their package or for an additional fee.  Many different types of venues would work well for welcoming your out of town guests. Your backyard, a state park, art gallery or a mountain lodge are all fabulous choices depending on your budget and style.

Brides-Against-Breast-Cance02

Did you know every 12 minutes one woman dies of breast cancer?  This month in honor of breast cancer awareness month, we are highlighting a wonderful non-profit organization.  Brides Against Breast Cancer was founded to grant wishes and to offer special programs to breast cancer patients.  There are many opportunities to give and support this wonderful organization.  White Couture Designer Bridal & Tuxedos donated 17 dresses to the cause this month alone.   We took some of the gowns we thought would do well on the road show and shipped them off so others may benefit.  This great organization travels to different destinations with great new and gently worn gowns giving brides the opportunity to purchase a designer gown.  Think of it as a really BIG trunk show!  All the proceeds go to benefit the organization.  If you would like to donate your gown (all donations are tax deductible) visit their website and follow the links.

When asked about donations, Brides Against Breast Cancer wants you to know…

Tip Tuesday: What a Weekend!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

RZMountainTopRZKissRZTossDestination Park City !  Take a look at the gorgeous slide show Laura Negri Photography put together for our client.  The weekend was spectacular and everyone looked amazing.  The weather outside was just another gorgeous day in Park City.  The mountains were sensational.  The decor was amazing, the lighting completed the ballroom, the cake, well see for yourself.  Rachel’s dress-gorgeous.  The bridesmaids were beautiful and MOB-WOW!  We brought in trees, beautiful flowers, and the chuppah all added to the already stunning Temple Har Shalom for a meaningful ceremony.RZCeremonyChef Billy from the Levy Group at Bistro Toujours (Chateaux Caterers) provided an amazing dinner.  The cocktail party began with the unbelievable seafood station on the incredible ice display along with the tray passed hors d’oevures.  When the guests entered the ballroom with the stunningly enormous white dance floor they new this party was just getting started.  The Hora kicked off the party as Chef Billy kept bringing out each course.  It was a good thing the guests were dancing to the music provided by The Joe Muscolino Band otherwise, they would have been too full to move.  The party never stopped until 2:00 am-Yes, 2:00 a.m.!  Oh what a night…
